I have always been an animal lover especially dogs since I was big enough to walk. I can remember my sister telling stories that I wouldn't take a nap unless they would let the dog in the house so I can lay down with my head on the dog and drink my bottle...I don't remember that but I guess it's true.

When I was young I was always bringing home the stray dog in the neighborhood and taking care of it and begging my mother to let me keep it. Even the strays when they had puppies I would be the one to make sure they were okay before I went to bed at night, so I guess the love for dogs has always been in my blood.

How I got into raising Labs was....I was living in A. A. county at the time and Dick was on the Eastern Shore hunting/fishing...(don't remember which one) and he called me up and said he had found a stray black lab in the campground where our trailer was and asked if he could bring it home. Well at the time we had 2 or 3 other dogs and I didn't think we needed another dog so before he even got home with this dog I named her D. D. for Dick's Dog because I thought he was going to be the one to take care of her.
